San Antonio - Trinity placed 78 student-athletes on the 2017 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.
A student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the semester in order to qualify. Additionally, honorees must be a member of a varsity athletics team, in a sport sponsored by the conference.
Tiger men’s and women’s track & field had the largest number of student-athletes on the Honor Roll, with 31 to their credit. Men’s and women’s tennis had 18 honorees, as did Trinity baseball. Trinity softball amassed six on the list, while men’s and women’s golf had five.
Led by fifth-year Head Coach Marcus Whitehead, Trinity track & field capped the spring season by sending a record-tying six student-athletes to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. The women's team won its third consecutive SCAC Championship, while the men finished second. Coach Whitehead and his staff of assistant coaches Emily Daum, Thomas Dimitri, Lauren Loeffler, Joe Meno, Corey Callahan Wildman, and Todd Wildman.
Eighth-year Head Coach Russell McMindes led the Tiger men's tennis team to its eighth straight SCAC title, advancing to the third round of the NCAA Playoffs, and finishing with a #13 national ranking.
The women's tennis team won its sixth consecutive conference crown - half of which have come under the direction of third-year Head Coach Gretchen Rush. Trinity completed the season in the second round of the NCAA Playoffs, and was ranked 16th nationally at season's end.
Head Coach Carla Spenkoch led the Trinity women's golf team to its second straight SCAC Championship. Men's golf was the SCAC runner-up, and was led by Head Coach Sean Etheredge.
Trinity's baseball team was led by Head Coach Tim Scannell, and finished with a 28-16 record after advancing to the SCAC Tournament Championship game. Head Coach Brandi Crnkovic paced the Tiger softball team to the semifinals of the SCAC Tournament.
