San Antonio - Eight Trinity University Tigers have been selected for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference spring All-Sportsmanship Teams.
The SCAC places special emphasis on sportsmanship each year, and honors those student-athletes who particularly exhibit the traits of hard play and respect for opponents.
The following Trinity student-athletes have been named to the SCAC spring All-Sportsmanship Teams:
Baseball - Ryan Lucero, senior (Aurora, CO/Grandview)
Men's Golf - Blake Turner, senior (Katy, TX/Taylor)
Women's Golf - Madison Wallender, senior (Spring Branch, TX/Smithson Valley)
Softball - Brooke Sanchez, junior (San Antonio, TX/Marshall)
Men's Tennis - Erick Delafuente, senior (El Paso, TX/Coronado)
Women's Tennis - Gabrielle Roe, first year (New Orleans, LA/Mount Carmel Academy)
Men's Track and Field - Justin Campbell, senior (Victoria, TX/Memorial)
Women's Track and Field - Rebecca Earle, first year (The Woodlands, TX/The Woodlands Christian Academy)
Trinity athletics completed the SCAC spring season with six championships: men's golf, baseball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's track and field.
During the entire season, the Tigers captured titles in 15 of 18 sports and won the SCAC President's Trophy, a railroad bell, awarded to the conference's overall top program.
Earlier, Trinity teams won SCAC Championships in men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, and men's and women's swimming and diving.
Trinity's 15 SCAC Championships is the most in league history for one academic year, breaking the Tigers' previous record of 11 in 2004-05. It is also the 13th time in history that Trinity has secured the Bell Trophy, also a onference record.
Trinity finished with a total of 420 points in this year's competition, with points being awarded based on each team's finish in the conference standings.
