Pete Murphy

2009 Hall of Fame Class

The late Pete Murphy '50 (B.S., physical education), and Master of Education '76, was a Trinity men's basketball player and coach. He coached the Tiger men from 1972-1986, and garnered 153 victories. Mr. Murphy remained Trinity's all-time winningest men's basketball coach, until the 2006-07 season. Mr. Murphy also served as Trinity's Director of Athletics. He was a basketball student-athlete from 1948-1950, and led the Tigers in scoring for two years. He was a three-time all-conference player, and won Trinity's Most Valuable Player Award. He died in 1986. Mr. Murphy is represented by his widow, Patsy, and son, Bobby '75. His three sons, Bobby, Danny '79, and Mark '90, were all Tiger basketball standouts.
